Done at the speed of light (overnight) as it was really late. The original is only 8.5"x13"!! I wanted to try a monochromatic color scheme, ala James Bama's DOC SAVAGE covers. Looks cool and saved a crapload of time agonizing over color.

BTW, due to deadline and severe lack of reference provided for the big guy I heavily referenced the Jack Jadson interior page Dynamite provided me. Great design, Jack!

Rereading the books, after some 40-plus years. Only about halfway through the first one, so it is entirely possible that I have not been introduced to all the pertinent characters. So, if this is a stupid question, try to bear with me.

What race is the big guy? Looks a little like a Thark, but his lower arms seem a bit atrophied.. [?]
Guessing the other dude is one of the 'Red Men' [native Martian humans]..

Outstanding old school cover painting!
The jumping figure in the background -- Gullivar of Mars or the other Earthman appearing in an ERB novel whose name escapes me now..?

These covers remind me of being in the library and checking out the book covers in the Sci fi section. Didn't get into many of the stories, but I always thought the cover art was fantastic. Great stuff.
