They've changed Gullivar Jones into more Barsoomian garb in this issue, replacing his Civil War uniform.

Little compositional trick; I used the design of the rocks to add movement and perspective to a fairly static image.

Is this what NASA's new rover will see when it lands on Mars?

The perspective suggested by the background topography makes Jones quite a lot smaller than Carter. I'm looking at the outcropping Carter is trying not to trip over.

Ya learn something new [damn near] every day. I was not aware that Gulliver Jones predated John Carter; that the book, by Edwin Arnold is actually considered the inspiration for E.R. Burroughs to write his book[s]. Didn't recognize the name, so I Googled it. SomBitch.. pretty frickin cool.

So, not only are you a consummate artist, but apparently quite the historian as well.

Way to go, dude.

I love the colours you've used in the sky. I can't remember the last time I saw someone genuinely capture the luminosity of a twilight sky successfully.
