Quick question! I know it's kind of inane too, but I'll ask anyway. Where is her other arm? I keep looking at the picture and the question keeps popping out at me. I love the dynamic and the colours, but I keep looking for the arm. :P

A splendidly painted series of Martian scenes, Joe. Your Martian portfolio can work as a neat art book in itself. We're not worthy!!

Classic Joe greatness. Very good work. The skin tones are really something else. I just dig your palette.

love the color in this. orange and green work with organic forms like pumpkins or flowers, but to use them in a landscape and sky is brilliant!

Actually just started reading Princess of Mars today.
Never read them before. I can't believe Burroughs created Carter before Tarzan!

Very nice, reminded me of Frazetta the moment I saw it...

Few little things: The right thigh looks a bit too thin compared to the left, might be just me though. The hand that grips his leg looks awkward, a little flat if you ask me. And I kind of miss her second arm xD

Besides that, great work :)

Thanks! As I mentioned on Facebook, people who don't know the books but only the Frazetta and St. John paintings don't realize that Barsoom has a nine color spectrum as opposed to our seven. You can go a bit crazy with the color every now and again. Whelan got it right when he painted his covers, as did Richard Hescox with his Carson of Venus paintings.

Too much for words... Quite outstanding...
Frazetta is smiling from Heaven - trust me on this! Fabulous work, Sir.
