Thuvia, Maid of Mars by JoeJusko Thuvia, Maid of Mars by JoeJusko
Chase card painting for my Edgar Rice Burroughs trading card series. Thuvia was one the characters from the John Carter of Mars books. While most assume those are normal lions, they are banths, ten legged MARTIAN lions who have many rows of teeth, much like a great white shark.

You really captured the banths really really well. Just getting a look at those teeth makes me shudder!

:: scratches head:: Is this a Frazetta-inspired piece? I used to have some of his published collections and I think I recall seeing something similar there. But I think it was a b&w piece, Thuvia framed by two beasts, interpreted differently than this.

Creepy... creepy creepy alien lions... ;_;

It does get the message accross. They feel very threatning. And alien.

Oh. My. God. I knew she'd come back again in one form or another. I had a copy of this exact same painting in either a calendar or a book, my caffeine - addled, sleep - deprived brain isn't exactly sure where I saw this earlier. All I remember is the richness of detail. Am I going to add it to my Favorites on here ?

YA - Freakin' - HOO ! Of Course !

Time for my " Happy Dance " !!
