Love the way you rendered the energy effects on the Infinity Gauntlet. The space background is wonderful as well. Silly question, but as primarily a cover artist, you are asked to draw a lot of varied characters that you may only visit once in a while. Is your studio packed with comics and graphic novels for reference (costumes, etc) or do you primarily use digital reference? I see some people like Frank Cho that actually have laptops mounted on his drawing board.
one thing that always comes out in your work Joe, is that you truly understand how light hits an object. As I have followed your work over the years, you just get it more and more with every work of art you do. nice work!
The way you make energy look is always impressive to me. It literally looks like the energy is flowing out of the Infinity Gauntlet into the universe around him. I also love that you made the gems have depth and energy swirling around inside them as well.
I also like how thick, weathered and leathery you made Thanos' skin on his face and the yellowed teeth is a great touch.
thanos is an entity. he/it's obsessed with death, also a character in the marvel universe, and female. his charming knight persona solidifies when he gets the infinity glove (pictured above fantastically by you), and erases half of the denizens of the galaxy with a snap. for love.
so basically when he thinks of deaths, he gets a stiffy.
