TARZAN OF THE APES by JoeJusko TARZAN OF THE APES by JoeJusko
I'm incredibly flattered that Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. commissioned me to paint four large official images to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tarzan of the Apes. This, the first in the series measures 30"x40" and is completely hand painted in acrylics. I had a ball painting this and cannot wait to get to the other three!

This is absolutely one of your finest pieces. And the step-by-step tutorial was pure painting porn (and I mean that in a good way)!

Wicked cool to see your process! I couldn't do background first then foreground (augh, my values would have a fight) but practice makes certainty.

My God, you're a beast! This is genius. It's really awesome watching this come together from your WIP photos. I gotta say all the little details make this truly incredible. From the little mushrooms and whatnot growing on the foreground tree, to all the little leaves everywhere, and the curl on Tarzan's toes (not to mention that wickedly realistic texture on the knife sheath), just makes me want to keel over right this second in awe. :worship: I bow down to you, sir!
