The head and body of the lion is done and it's time for the mane. I also added cast shadows to the Hercules figure to tie them together and darkened the hair on the minotaur's right arm to help define the tail. Again, crappy cell phone pic. I'll probably replace it later. THIS IS JUST A DETAIL. I'LL POST THE ENTIRE IMAGE WHEN IT'S DONE.
Can't wait to see all of it. You and Buscema have such a great way of compacting the pose of male figures in your work to seem solid and supportive of the other elements within your scenes.
Buscema was (is) my idol and I learned so much from studying his work when I was younger, especially instilling a sense of weight into a figure. It means a lot to me that you noticed that!
I've done a fair amount of art history study of late, not the least of which is heavily tied to typography (currently fascinated with Jan Tschichold), but it's been fun finding the connections from one artist to the next.
