wow, this is awesome. I can't say much about your works, Joe. I used to have collection of marvel master piece 1992. i love all your works. one of my favorite card in marvel master piece 1992 is hobgoblin. it is very complicated. i love the pattern of the skin and detail. about this sketch, are you going to transform into colour? I admire your colourful drawing (^_^). that's all
Great job!!! I take it that's his favourite Calot behind them? (LOL! That looks a heck of lot more intimidating than the Cheshire cat looking version they put in the movie!!) I'm still a big fan of the books!
C'mon, couldn't you stick a "NYY" logo on this somewhere, the season starts in 2 days! Kidding. Great feel to this piece, I am actually not familiar with the whole "Mars" series, someday I will read, someday.
Beautiful pencil work Joe, awesome pose & concept as well. Fantastic job on the line work & detail, look forward to seeing this in colour. Love watching your artwork, always curious as to what your next concept is going to be!
Sorry, I am seeing the fourth knuckle but I thought these folks had three digits in the new movie. I have never read the novel or comic so I don't know if these folks had three digits or not originally.
Looks like another winner to me Joe. I do want to say one thing. Anytime someone does Warlord of Mars/ John Cater / Dejah Thoris people always compare the art to that which came before it. However I am happy to say that I find your work for DE covers to be very much your own. People may say well he did this or tried to do that, BUT I feel as tho Joe you have created a whole series of images that are now part of the ERB warlord of mars universe. So thanks for making art that you have put your time into and that you have giving to us to enjoy! Some of your images on these covers have been just breath taking in the action and the pose as well
This comment means more to me than almost any other I've ever gotten concerning this work. Thank you! I've tried very hard not to emulate anything that has come before, even though one can't help but be influenced by art one knows so well. The overall response to my covers has been so appreciated by me. When I was offered these covers I knew it was a perfect fit for me. I'm really happy you feel the same.
