The San Jose SUPERCON (May 16-17) has an inking jam every year where all the guests ink the same pieces and then they're auctioned off at the show. I've never inked Kirby before so this was a real treat!!!! It's been so long since I did straight comic book inking! I need to do more of this. Trying to channel my inner Joe Sinnott/Frank Giacoia (two of the best comic book inkers EVER). 11x17 inked over a blueline (image printed in non reproducing blue ink). BTW, I don't like ink. This was rendered with a Windsor & Newton Series 233 synthetic #3 brush and Liquitex Soft Body Mars Black acrylic. I'm also doing a Mark Schultz piece in a totally different technique. I'll post it when I'm done.
There's just something magical about Kirby. You really followed through on the intent of those pencils. Just excellent. What a great combo! Kirby/Jusko.

THANKS!!!! Kirby stands alone! That's for sure!!!! The pencils were so tight it just a matter of getting the clean line I was after. I'm happy with the result!
It's "non photo blue". You can actually do it in Photoshop by blocking everything but a really light cyan. Print that out and ink it. Film and scanners don't "read" it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
