I keeping with the recent Sketch thread, these are the kind of loose sketches I do while taking a break from the painting I'm working on. I use anything that's handy. These were done on a scrap that was left over when I cut down the illustration board for Vampirella's Graveyard.. There were no ideas to begin with, just doodles that tuned into stuff. It's a great way of keeping your hand loose and clearing your head when the piece you're working on starts to tire you out. The head shows just how much I was influenced by the great John Buscema as a kid. I can channel John at will most times. It shows up more in my pencils than in my finished work today, though. These each took 5-10 minutes to sketch. The inking on the ape maybe another 5. Just scribbling whatever I think of to clear out the cobwebs.
