Proposed ad page for an unrealized creator owned book I was doing for Epic Comics. I later serialized about a dozen pages for Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated.

Always nice to see your black and white stuff - which is right up there with the paints. More! :)

Technical pens are a sloooow process without a lot of life to the line. I much prefer nibs and brushes.

I have to disagree. I used Microns here and Rapidographs on others and am currently working on a full color rendering of Tarzan that I will scan when I am finished. The Tarzan will be Rapidograph and woodless both by Koh-I-Noor. I am playing around with Copic as well to see how good these are.

Joe, When you sad double thick paper, did you mean 4 ply cold press [Fabriano] or strathmore instead of canvas? I use 140 pound cold press for ink work and considered venturing into paint.

I looked through your tutorials and they were interesting and informative. I use under layers for the colors I work with now to get the depth of color I want and figure I would be doing the same for paintings. I am still deciding type of paint.

so after pencils/inks like this are done, what do you then do for the painting? Do you go right over the original or lightbox it and do a new piece?

I do a fairly tight tracing and rub graphite on the reverse side, making a transfer sheet. I then go over that drawing with a 7H pencil and transfer it onto my illustration board.
