Companion line art to the Captain Action pieces I posted a while back. These will be used for the re-issue box art of the classic 1960's action figure. I was asked to use a very retro ink line to match the classic 1960's art they'll be using for the various costumes.
They came and went in '67-'68. Batmania was ending and superhero toys were falling out of favor. Plus, all the costume licensing cost $$. There was a GREAT 5 issue DC comic by Gil Kane and Wally Wood. Highly recommend seeking those out. Never been reprinted.
That explains it then. I was on Okinawa from August of 67 through May of 69. In the Army. I can't even begin to tell you all the things I missed during my three years in the Army. Went directly from Okinawa to northern Thailand, where I sat in the jungle for a year, playing tag with Charlie and trying to avoid water buffalo [drove a 5-ton dump truck]. No kidding, I didn't even hear about Woodstock until almost two years after I got out and that was only because I saw the album in a dude's collection and asked, "Hey, what the hell is this..?" He actually thought I was kidding at first.
I will do a search and see if I can find the comics, though. Might be a gas to see them, after all these years. Though, if they are only single print issues, it is unlikely I'll be able to afford them. Keep a good thought..?
Thanks for the info at any rate. Always a pleasure.
Are they re-issuing just the art, or the action figure..?

You ever hear of this character prior to this, by the way?
Sad to say, I never had.
Wonder how I missed this one.
Of course, I sorta got away from comic books around the time I went to high school - 1963-64...
